New Work With Science World

This project has been a long time in the making! A couple month's back Samantha from Echo Stories and Leah from Giant Ant reached out about collaborating on a project together. When they described the project, I knew it was a big yes. 

In May of last year, Science World announced that they were launching a new program in 2018 called Symbiosis. The mission of Symbiosis is to address the need to scale STEM learning for young people in British Columbia. With that, the teams from Echo Stories, Giant Ant and myself got together to produce a film that would launch the program. 

The production process was a quick one, with 2 months from concepting to delivery. With Leah's great creative direction, Arrabelle coming in big to help on the script, the Echo team polishing it off, we had a solid start to our concept & script. This was my first time casting for a child actor and it was a brilliant process. Weeks before the shoot, I watched Sarah in Natalie Murao's "floating light" during the Vancouver Asian Film Festival. She had an incredible performance in the short film and blew us all away in her work for this spot.  

I'm so grateful that Devon was on set - she wrangled all the troops and kept things going smoothly during our shoot. And of course, Peter came in big to help shape the visuals and feel for the piece. Projects like these are where I find mission, passion, and vocation intersecting. When I'm helping fulfil the mission of my clients in a meaningful way, that's where I know film can make an impact on the communities around me. Enjoy!
